And Now for Something Mathematical . . .

odds
Perhaps in this blog so far I have not given much indication that I actually teach math, save the previous post.  Well here’s something a little less philosophical (or is it?).  If any of my past students are still reading my blog (I don’t blame you if you’ve gotten bored), can you tell me what is special about this pattern of numbers?  Hint: It’s a little more odd than what is obvious.

Clever…..I would think that if you add each row up and take the square root that would leave you with the number of that row. For example, Row one: square root of one is one and it is row one. Row two: Add 1 and 3 and get 4 and square root it and get 2 which is in row two.

And from his philosophical mama: It means that every time you take a new road that you will run into something new that’s odd, but not out of order. Then when you look back on life, you see that what you thought was odd, was really part of the plan- a mathematical interpretation of Jeremiah 29:11. I’m still working on the monkey/coconut tie in….that’s more proverbial of lean not on your own understanding…
